Client Engagement Terms
Last updated: July 2025
Thank you for choosing Clear Blue Sky Accountancy! 🎉
These Engagement Terms set out how we work together, what’s expected, and how we keep things fair, friendly and professional.
1. Who We Are
We are Clear Blue Sky Accountancy Ltd, a registered accountancy firm based in the South West of England. We provide accountancy, tax, payroll and advisory services for individuals and businesses.
Registered office:
62 Fore street, Torpoint, Cornwall, PL11 2AB
Company number: 10300354
2. What These Terms Cover
These terms apply when you engage us to provide services, and they sit alongside your personalised Engagement Letter and Service Schedule, which outlines exactly what we’ll be doing for you.
If there’s ever a contradiction between this document and your Engagement Letter, the Engagement Letter takes priority.
3. Our Responsibilities
We agree to:
- Provide professional, timely and accurate accountancy services
- Keep your data safe and secure
- Let you know if we need extra information or clarification
- Comply with relevant UK accounting and tax regulations
We are regulated by [insert professional body, e.g. AAT, ACCA] and maintain appropriate professional indemnity insurance.
4. Your Responsibilities
To help us help you, you agree to:
- Provide accurate, complete and timely information
- Respond to requests and queries promptly
- Keep records and receipts where required
- Let us know of any changes in your business, personal details, or tax situation
We’re good, but we’re not mind-readers — if something changes, please tell us.
5. Fees & Payment
Our fees will be outlined in your Service Schedule or engagement quote. Unless otherwise agreed:
- Services may be billed monthly, annually, or on completion
- Late payments may incur interest in line with the Late Payment of Commercial Debts Act 1998
Any changes to services or scope will be discussed and agreed before additional charges are applied.
6. Confidentiality
We treat all client information as strictly confidential. We will never share or disclose your details unless:
- You ask us to
- We are legally required to (e.g. by HMRC)
- It’s with a trusted partner acting on your behalf (like a mortgage broker or legal advisor)
For more detail, view our Privacy Policy.
7. Anti-Money Laundering (AML)
As a regulated accountancy firm, we’re required to carry out AML checks before starting work with new clients. This may include identity verification, proof of address, and occasionally asking for further information about your business or finances.
We know it’s a bit of a faff, but we’re legally required to do it.
8. Termination of Services
You can end your agreement with us at any time, just let us know in writing. Likewise, we reserve the right to withdraw services with reasonable notice, particularly if:
- Payments are not made
- Requested information is not provided
- We have reason to believe fraud or misconduct may be taking place
Any outstanding fees will still be payable for services already delivered.
9. Limitation of Liability
While we always do our best, Clear Blue Sky Accountancy will not be liable for:
- Losses caused by incomplete or inaccurate information provided by you
- Deadlines missed due to late submission of required documents
- Indirect or consequential loss (e.g. loss of profit or business opportunity)
Our total liability for any claim is limited to the value of the services provided, unless otherwise required by law.
10. Legal Bits
- These terms are governed by English law
- Any disputes will be handled by the courts of England and Wales
- We may update these terms occasionally — the latest version will always be available on our website or upon request
11. Questions?
